     Prof. Dr. Piet Taelman.

     (° Sint-Amandsberg, 11 December 1959) studied law and received his Licentiate
     of Laws degree at the University of Ghent in 1982.

     He has worked since 1982 as an attorney at the Ghent bar.

     From January 1986, assistant, and since October 1995 tutor, at the University
     of Ghent, in the area of judicial private law.

     He teaches Civil Procedure.

     His doctorate thesis (Res iudicata in private law proceedings - Definition and
     Demarcation) was awarded the Fernand Collin Prize in 1996.

     He is the author of various articles and comments on issues of Civil Procedure
     and enforcement of judgments.
